How about making all toys both gel and silicone? I know not everybody likes both, and some like the raptors only come in gel and the timber wolf only in silicone, why not give everything the choice of gel and silicone?

i think bear is currently switching all of them over to silicone.  but it obviously takes a while to make each new toy so its kinda a long process........i think Lips sealed

Due to the gels slowing production time down considerably, they are going to be suspended, and those that have yet to be made will be transfered to silicone later on down the line.

Too expensive, from an idea to a mold it can cost anywhere up and over 1000$ where there are over 80 toys now that's a ton of mulah and well if Bear had that kind of revenue from this business he could do a lot more than just offer both materials. It's not worth it. As the old models will be made into silicone eventually the time that this will take is almost considerable. It will take years, but the end result will be a huge selection that rivals most giant toy companies. We already have our competition beat on selection and the result of the conversion will only widen the gap.

So to really answer the queastion. Yes we will, you just have to buy more toys before that happens :3 Ohh and any really new designs that arn't remakes won't be made into gels. At least I don't think so... >.> might want to ask Bear about that... Not sure which mold is easier to make..

All toys are going to be switched to silicone eventually.  Gels are being taken off the site on Dec 5th.

Keeping the gels available creates much more problems since its different mixtures, toxic fumes to make it pourable, extremely hot etc etc.  Silicone is an overall better material.

Everything is switching over to silicone...which in my opinion, is totally awesome. Gel leaks and is so difficult for Bear to make. I think the transition over to silicone only is fantastic.

It leaks and it smells funny.  I rarely take my gel toys with me when I travel because even in their plastic bags they stink up my clothes with that gel smell.  My silicone toys will be much nicer to travel with as they won't make my clothes smell funny for the whole trip.  ^_^

Silicone toys are much better. Far superior in quality, durability, and longevity than compared with gel toys.

When BB makes the Silicone toys, they are a lot safer to make than the gels. Shocked

I've no idea how those sorts of things are made. Actually, I sort of do. lol.

A sort of jelly mould and rubber or whatever is poured into it and wait until it sets and voilla! Sex silicone sex toy! :-p

I wonder if there's a video of the process somewhere. Might be on a 'How it works', or 'How do they do that?" kind of television programme hehe.

BB would never do something like that at all. He is VERY secretive about the process, but I think it would be a great education for everyone to know how the process is done.

Here's a quick and dirty of how Silicone stuff is made (as I understand it).

You start with a mold. This mold needs to be compatible with the silicone used inside of it, so the materials must be carefully chosen or else things will fail.

The mold is sprayed with a release agent and is prepped for filling.

The silicone comes in two parts usually which will need to be heated up and mixed together to become "real silicone". During the heating and mixing, things like softeners and colors are added.

Everything is then poured into a mold and tamped to knock out the bubbles. After that, the silicone is set up to cure. The curing varies, though it usually takes anywhere from several hours to several days. Heat usually helps speed the process.

From there the silicone is popped out of the mold and is ready to go!

PS. Mail me some rice crispy cakes. Smiley

Heh, cool. Was curious..   I have previously tried making my own toy with custom molded wax positive laid between two layers of Plaster of Paris, then injecting that with Silicon Caulking.  baaaad idea.  it got the shape though, which was cool.

    Ooh that's made me excited!

I've recently bought one of those Clone-A-Willy kits. No, I'm not going to clone a wonderful Zeta toy. I'd never dream of such a thing! But I shall try and make a copy of my own willy  :-p

Anyone else tried that? The Clone-A-Willy kits, not MY actual willy hehe :-p
