I honestly don't think it would be very fair. There are people who have been waiting a year for toys (even silicone!) and bumping them further back because someone who has been waiting three weeks bought the brand new rush seems wrong. The guy waiting a year for one silicone toy deserves priority because he came first. If there was no backlog at all, this wouldn't be a problem, but there is a backlog and those waiting a long time should have first priority.

I also can see this creating two different backlogs out of the current one; one of "rush orders" and one of people who will be waiting a lot longer as the rush orders are going to be going first. As the current backlog clears up, I agree with erythro: there's a chance everyone will start buying rush to not be left in the back of the que.

I also am concerned that people who don't order rush will be put on the back burner for a long time, leading to more people upset they waited a year for a single silicone toy and more refund requests and complaints. Hearing "Go buy rush"  (even if from a well-meaning forum member) when you waited a year for a single toy is not going to keep people happy. If anything, it sounds uncaring and money-hungry.

I'm all for the idea of a "surprise me" color, but rush orders should not be available to everyone. If rush orders do end up being implemented, it should be an option based on overall price of order, not number of items ordered. This encourages larger orders as well as the ordering of larger toys. Larger toys use more silicone, so letting people be able to pay a little extra to get larger toys faster will help pay for the materials. It also will help stimulate the sales on the more expensive toys so Bear can make more money with less molds to tend. Having the price to be able to get a rush order be over $150 would work. I'm suggesting $150 because most the big toys are almost $100, and this prevents them from tossing in something tiny just to get a rush order.

I also think the price of a rush order should be a fraction of the sales price. Maybe 15%? This keeps the price fair for both regular customers as well as resellers. After all, a reseller will most likely be ordering a far larger order than a normal customer will which will mean longer waits than those caused by a normal order. This percentage should not change based on price of toys- it stays the same to keep things fair! Also, having the rush order be a flat percentage of total order price that does not change nomatter what (as long as the order is over $150) will make it a lot easier to implement.

Any specific reasoning why it's a no for standard customer orders?  Just trying to figure out the good and bad for consumers

Sorry, was kinda dealing with stuff the last few days and couldn't respond....

I think it's okay for standard customers, but only if their order has so many items in it, really. Because people are impatient by nature, everyone will pick rush if they can.

That. I see no good coming from this. Only more backlogging.

If you want something like this, make sure you're completely up-to-date with the current orders. As in, waiting time max. 6 weeks in ALL cases. Until then, there's a backlog and this plan will only cause a lot of frustration and angry customers. And they'd be damned right.

I think it is a good idea, since I have heard in another post that Bear was kinda 'scrounging up' materials- as in he had to use his stock of say blue up all at once, sell a couple items that may not be ordered in blue by posting that blue is available, and then have more money for new materials. I think the rush thing is a good idea. I won't use it, but the extra money coming in from rush orders will allow bear to get his supplies together and make everyones stuff faster than waiting for a couple blue things, then a couple red, then black, then buying silicone xD
