IRC, please. Browser-based chats are aggravating to me. I can't track them, and being dependent on my browser not crashing or stalling during a talk is stupid, when I have a dedicated chatting application already installed on nearly every computer I touch and would actually head in this direction. Just offer a Java applet for those who aren't so... dedicated.  |

IRC based with a browser IRC client for those who don't have their own is probably the best way to handle a chat IMO. I'd definitely enjoy one.

An IRC based approach with an easy to use browser client seems to be the best solution.
