Do you just want something in the vein of a point-and-click style puzzle solving game? There are lots of those, though they were at their most popular in the 80's and 90's, so... lots of oldies. There are a few recent additions to the genre in the form of episodic games that I can think of, in addition.
Oldies: King's Quest series(6? games), may be a collection around somewhere Space Quest series(5? games), I KNOW there's a collection Quest for Glory series(3? games), more of an RPG flair, I think Monkey Island series, humor series Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade/Fate of Atlantis Loom The Dig(I think... it's another Lucasarts game from the right period)
Many of those are available on the Steam (an online game... hub, for lack of a better word. You need a client) for $5 a piece. I personally find that a little steep ($3 seems more reasonable to me, but whatever), but there you go. Others probably have collections floating around, though the compatibility with new OS may be a problem.
In the newer category, all of an episodic variety (several smaller games/puzzles rather than a single larger one): Monkey Island, a restart with new graphics, maybe a new plot? I dunno, I've sadly played none of these well-regarded games Wallace and Grommitt Sam & Max Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People, which you probably know of already if you like Homestar Runner
The first two can be gotten from Steam, the last two from the Telltale Games website. Or the last two can be played on the Wii if you have one. The goofy thing is, Sam & Max has (only) a disc which cheaper than the computer-version download from Telltale, while SBCG4AP is only available on Wii as individual episodic downloads and costs MORE than the computer physical version (whether purchased as episodes one at a time or as a fully "season" at a discounted rate).
I honestly haven't played most of these. I played some King's/Space Quest back when they were new-ish. That was the NES era, so don't expect graphical wows. I also recently got Loom and Indy from Steam, they're dated but aged fairly well. Loom did better for being fully voice acted.
I've also never played Myst or any of the sequels, so hopefully I got the style of game right. I've only seen it in action a few times.
