Gel toys have now been discontinued.  They can no longer be ordered and the category to view them has been removed.  However, if you still have links to the old toys, you can still view but not buy.
No further orders for gel will be done, however any placed before I removed them from the site will be finished and sent out.

    The winners!

    Congratulations to both.

Any word on if there's to be a promotion for October? And here's hoping that the Gryphon starts coming out of the molds soon!

Why have the gel toys been discontinued? I prefer gel over silicon anyday. Better texture and feel, besides for me it doesn't irratate the skin. I use silicon in my muffin pan, i know what it is and feels like and to me its as irritating on sensitive skin like that old nylon backpack I use to carry off books and university. (and that is just my hands picking that up) now that feel inside me, I think there may be a problem. As I like to say: If it sells, sell it!

There are many shapes that I would of liked to of purchace I already have one of the gel toys and is a happy customer. So why can I be an happier?

The gel toys have a lot of problems that the silicone ones do not; namely, they take much longer to make, they 'bleed' out the plasticizer used in their construction, they have a shorter lifespan (whereas silicone pretty much lasts forever) and smell.  I have one of the silicone toys and it's incredible.

Don't write them off just because you think you have a good idea about what the new ones are like.  Toys and cooking pans are obviously made very differently.

Indeed. The silicone toys also allow for a higher level of detail and a greater flexibility. The type of silicone used in these is (probably, I don't remember if it's listed) medical-grade. The sort of stuff used in hospitals in order to avoid allergic reactions; it's supposed to be hypo-allergenic. Of course, exceptions are possible, but it's more likely that the muffin pan you speak of has some other elements to it -- a plastic or some latex -- that you're allergic to. You mentioned a similarity to a nylon backpack, it could actually be the same irritant.

Gels were discontinued because they the material is overall horrible for toys, they take a very long time to make compared to silicone, the gels have a short lifespan compared to silicone, gels may irritate or even set off severe allergic reactions whereas the silicone is very very unlikely to cause a reaction.
The way the silicone feels is also dependant on the mold.  If the mold feels like sandpaper, the toy will.  If its perfectly smooth, the toy will be perfectly smooth.  Silicone picks up even a hair when making a mold.

Isn't this just a ploy to be in compitition with bad dragon toys?
Medical grade silicon? If its the same stuff that is used in the bands typicaly used in like PT and OT training in a few clinics then even that stuff I deem unconforting. As far as smell goes with a gell toy the onloy smell i have noticed was that of a pool toy like one of the plastic rings there, other than that, not much.

Well if you are discontinueing your gel line will you still use the old molds and remake the old toys in silicon?

A ploy to be in competition?

That's ridiculous.  Bad-Dragon uses the silicone because it's a superior material all around, and Zeta is doing the same thing because of that reason.

Bear has already said that he wants to release all the old toys in silicone, but it's just making the molds for them all that's time/money-consuming.

Also, medical grade silicone means the kind of stuff they would put in breast implants and other uses that would require ultra-long-lasting hypo-allergenic material.

BD isn't the only "abnormal toy" manufacturer that uses silicone, I've seen at least two others that do the same. As far as being in competition, given one of the recent toys they've released, I'd almost wonder if they weren't trying to take a little business from this site Tongue Of course they're in competition, they sell things that appeal to a similar group of people; that doesn't mean that the switch to silicone is to be in more direct competition, however. As it's been mentioned, silicone is just so much better overall for this sort of thing.

If you are in the minority and are unable to enjoy them due to the material, I'm very sorry. Personally, if Zeta hadn't started offering the silicone, I don't think that I would have ordered from here. I wanted silicone and I'm glad it was offered here.

The re-released toys will also be re-imagined. So far, the canines have been similar in the slick Euro line, but nothing has been a direct port. The equines are quite different... I don't know how I feel about that yet. They seem shorter, for one, which I'm disappointed with.
