i got an eee, i think its a 900a... it has a 8.9" screen, 1.5G intel atom processor, 1 gig memory that i upgraded to 2 gig, 4 gig solid state drive.

i put uubuntu linux on it, it works great, i leave a 16 gig sd card perminantly on it for files and the 4 gig is plenty for my operating system. its great for college and slacking off at work, little too slow for youtube but it plays runescape and subeta just fine. between this and my main laptop i have good options in terms of portability vs power

it cost me $180 and the memory upgrade was $21 and the sd card i think was $30 but i dont remember for sure on the sd card

    Haha, another Runescaper. :3

I used to actually have a fairly well-known furry clan in Runescape for like half a year before Jagex shut it down (they were nice about it, at least.)

I don't play hardly at all anymore, though; I canceled my membership like 6 months ago, but I goof off in free land now and then.

a netbook is just what it sounds like, a netbook. it is not ideal for doing anything processor intensive. most of the newer netbooks re running on a atom 1.6ghz single core  processor and is optimized for internet browsing, chatting, and word processing; they are built to handle the 'skin' of an operating system, but not much anything else. if you are planning on using it for communication (skype included), go for it. but if you are looking for something to do lots of stuff with you can get an entry level laptop from toshiba right now for 400$ (just ordered one myself but i got in on the one with the AMD processor in it).

anyhow i hope that helps. Smiley
